A 36-year-old Mississippi County man was sentenced to more than five years in federal prison for making methamphetamine, the U.S. attorney's office said Wednesday.

Michael W. O'Conner, 36, of East Prairie, Mo., admitted he had been making methamphetamine at his residence last October, said Abbie Crites-Leoni, special assistant U.S. attorney.

During a search of his residence, authorities discovered numerous items used to manufacture meth along with more than 100 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine, the attorney said.

O'Conner's co-defendant, Monica Wolford, pleaded guilty on June 4. She will be sentenced Sept. 4.
