MISS AMERICAN LEGION CONTESTANTS SOUGHT

Contestants are needed for the Miss American Legion Pageant Sept. 16 in New Madrid.

The pageant, which begins at 8 p.m., is held in conjunction with the Fall Festival.

To enter, contestants must be single and never married women between the ages of 16 and 21. A queen and two alternates will be selected.

The winner will receive a crown, bouquet and $300. Runners-up will receive $200 and $100, respectively. The participants will compete in personal interview and evening gown categories.

Entry fees are $20 and must be paid before Sept. 8. Each contestant should return the fee with a picture to Melanie Duncan; 585 St. Peter, New Madrid, Mo. 63869. For more information, contact Duncan at 748-2308.
