MINNEAPOLIS BAND WILL PLAY CAPE'S ARENA

Conspiracy, a high-energy metal core band from Minneapolis, Minn., will play Wednesday at the A.C. Brase Arena Building in Cape Girardeau.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m., said Heather Ryan, who is arranging concerts for the band in Missouri. Ryan said she runs a radio show at KCOU-FM 88 at the University of Missouri-Columbia that features demos of unsigned bands.

Admission is $2 for all ages. The concert is billed as "a positive alternative to drugs and alcohol."

A Jackson band that has relocated to Columbia and is named Church of Bowling will tentatively open for Conspiracy, Ryan said.

Conspiracy is a four-member band that has played together for several years, but this is the first time the band has made it to Missouri, Ryan said.

"Their lyrics are political in nature," she said. "One song discusses the big separation between the poor and the rich in America."

So far, in addition to Cape Girardeau, Ryan said she has booked the band in St. Louis and Jefferson City, and was trying to arrange a concert for the band in Lawrence, Kan. In Jefferson City, Conspiracy will open for the Canadian band NoMeansNo, said Ryan. The concert is scheduled for Monday.

Ryan said a successful show with a good turnout could mean similar concerts at the Arena building in July and August. Bands from Iowa, Texas, and Kansas have already expressed interest, she said.
