Navy Seaman Richard L. Hinkebein, son of Elizabeth A. and Michael L. Hinkebein of Chaffee recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Hinkebein is a 2004 graduate of Chaffee High School.
Army Spec. Erica C. Parent has returned to Wuerzburg, Germany, after a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is regularly assigned to the 67th Combat Support Hospital in Wuerzburg. Parent is a health care specialist with two years of military service. She is the daughter of Bonnie C. and stepdaughter of Bob Kilmer of North Park Avenue in Cape Girardeau. She is a 2002 graduate of Central High School.
Navy Airman Apprentice Ryan W. Gray, son of Bobbie G. and Raymond W. Gray of Scott City, was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Gray is a 2003 graduate of Scott City High School.
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Benjamin J. Unterreiner, son of Diane and Gerald Unterreiner of Perryville, Mo., was recently promoted to his current rank while serving with Marine Tiltrotor Test and Evaluation Squadron 22, Marine Corps Air Station New River, Jacksonville, N. C. Unterreiner is a 2004 graduate of St. Vincent High School in Perryville.
Navy Lt. Matthew J. Brickhaus, son of Lolamae Brickhaus of Sedgewickville, Mo., recently made a scheduled port visit to Pusan, South Korea, while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk, deployed to Yokosuka, Japan. Brickhaus and his fellow shipmates had a chance to sightsee, shop and enjoy recreational activities, as well as participate in other cultural exchanges with the citizens of Puson. USS Kitty Hawk is America's oldest active ship and the first of the "super carriers," commissioned April 29, 1961. Brickhaus is a 1989 graduate of Duschesne High School of St. Charles, Mo. and joined the Navy in December 1992. He is a graduate of University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Lincoln, Neb., with a BA degree.
