Petty officer wins achievement medal

Navy Chief Petty Officer Todd A. Buchheit, son of Mary Jane Buchheit of Old Appleton, Mo., and Clarence J. Buchheit of Perryville, Mo., recently received his second Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal while assigned to Patrol Squadron Eight at Naval Air Station in Brunswick, Maine.As flight engineer, Buchheit enabled his command to provide time-critical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance information to coalition special operations forces during more than 90 overland missions and 1,000 flight hours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Buchheit, a 1982 graduate of Oak Ridge High School, joined the Navy in July 1982.
