BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- Two weeks after he was killed, misidentified and buried by the wrong family, Kenny Thomas Stainback has now been officially laid to rest with the right name.

The 37-year-old was buried Friday at the Sunset Garden of Memory cemetery in Belleville.

It's the same cemetery where his body was buried after being misidentified as 41-year-old Frederick McWherter Jr.

The McWherter family held a funeral for their supposedly dead son, only to discover later that he was alive and at a rehab facility in St. Louis.

Stainback was found shot to death Feb. 15 on an East St. Louis street.

His family says they're upset at police for not using fingerprints to correctly identify their son.
