Evelyn Blanchard, a senior at Meridian High School in Mounds, Ill., received an award from the National Society Daniel Chapman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Daughters of the American Revolution recognition recipients are selected on the basis of leadership, dependability, service, good citizen and patriotism.

Upon graduation, Blanchard plans to major in physical therapy. In addition to taking classes at Meridian, she is enrolled in escrow honors classes at Shawnee Community College. She is the daughter of Bobbie and Angela Blanchard of Olmsted, Ill.
