JONESBORO, Ill. -- Melvin G. Brown, 73, of Route 1, Jonesboro died Tuesday, March 17, 1992, at the Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born Nov. 9, 1918, at White Castle, La., the son of William and Emily LaCroix Brown. On Feb. 22, 1948, he married Clola Mae Rinehart at Whitle Castle. She survives of the home.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Anna VFW Post #3455. He also was a member of the Catholic church.
Other survivors include a son, Melvin Gene Brown of rural Anna; two sisters, Joyce Ardoin of White Castle, and Cecile Bourdreaux of Plaquemine, La.; two brothers, Bruce Brown of White Castle and William Brown of Baton Rouge, La.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at Norris and Son Funeral Home in Jonesboro, where rosary service will be 7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, with Fr. Tom Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola, with military rites conducted by the Anna VFW.
