Melaina's Playground to be closed indefinitely

Cape Girardeau County announced Wednesday that Melaina's Magical Playland will be closed for maintenance until further notice.

Work at the all-inclusive playground at Cape County Park North, which features amenities for children with disabilities, initially was expected to be finished by Wednesday.

The work being done to replace a portion of the play surface tiles and the cleaning of the surface is taking longer than anticipated, Cape County parks director Bryan Sanders said in a news release. An approved play-surface vendor is doing the work.

The playground opened in 2013.
