PADUCAH, Ky. -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced it will hold two public meetings to discuss options for improving or replacing the U.S. 51 Ohio River Bridge -- also known as the Cairo Bridge -- between Wickliffe, Ky., and Cairo, Ill.

The meetings will be from 4 to 7 p.m. May 20 at Cairo High School and from 4 to 7 p.m. May 21 in the Community Room of the Ballard Center in LaCenter, Ky.

The cabinet is in a long-term planning process to identify preferred alternatives for the next phase of project development. Possible options under consideration are rehabilitation of the existing bridge, replacement of the bridge in its current location or construction of a new bridge in a different location.
