MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The public will have a chance Thursday to offer input on upcoming roadwork in Bollinger and Cape Girardeau counties.

Scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. at Woodland Elementary School in Marble Hill, the meeting will provide information on bridge replacement and road improvements on Highway 34 and several other roads, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Work on Highway 34 will include grading, paving and realignment of curves from Glenallen, Mo., to Marble Hill. The bridge over Gimlet Creek near Glenallen will also be replaced.

MoDOT expects to begin buying the necessary rights of way in the fall, with construction expected to start in the spring of 2012.

In addition the Gimlet Creek bridge, two bridges on Route BB and Route V are scheduled for replacement. Construction could begin as early as September.

Meanwhile, work to be discussed in Cape Girardeau County are three Highway 34 bridges. Closed from mid-May to mid-August 2011, those bridges are over the Whitewater River, Byrd Creek and the Whitewater Overflow.
