JACKSON -- A regional videoconference with information on increasing a community's capacity to handle housing concerns will be conducted May 9 from 9 a.m. to noon the University Extension Office, 815 S. Hope.

The videoconference will provide local, state and federal policy-makers and implementers with an opportunity to discuss small towns' housing concerns. It begins with a report on the results ofa three-year study of housing in small towns in Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

A panel discussion on the current direction of national and state housing policy, including the potential impact of block grants, will follow the report.

Participants at the Jackson site can call in questions and comments throughout the conference.

Participants will learn how other small communities successfully meet their housing needs, gain insights and share information on housing policy and potentials across a five-state area, learn what resources are available to address small town housing concerns, and increase their community's capacity to address housing concerns.
