Three men, noted for their involvement in water quality and treatment, will be guest speakers during the Missouri Water Quality Association (WQA) Winter meeting, to be held at the Victorian Inn in Cape Girardeau. It begins Friday and concludes Saturday.
Peter J. Censky, executive director of the Water Quality Association; George Ellis, who manages development of drinking water products at Kinetico Inc.; and Stan Ziarkowski, vice president of Domestic Ion Exchange with Sybron Chemicals, Inc., Birmingham, News Jersey, will speak Friday afternoon.
"We hold these meetings twice a year," said Charles V. "Chuck" Heady of Cape Girardeau, president of the association. "This is the first time it has been scheduled at Cape Girardeau."
More than 50 companies which are involved in water treatment and conditioning, from all parts of Missouri, will be attending the two-day session, said Heady.
"The WQA promotes the quality of water, and fair practices by its members," he said.
The program starts at 9 a.m. Friday with registration, dealer meetings and certification examinations.
A general business meeting and executive board session will be held Saturday morning, with adjournment around noon.
Censky, of Chicago, will discuss the WQA's role, which includes education program, research foundations and product performance. He will speak at 1:15 p.m. Friday.
Ellis, of Newberry, Ohio, a registered professional engineer, has been with Kinetico since 1981. He holds eight patents, six of them registered to Kinetico, and is an active member of the Water Quality Association and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He will discuss Reverse Osmosis Systems at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Ziarkowski, who has been involved in the water treatment industry 35 years, will discuss Resin Technology for Selective Applications during his 3:30 p.m. Friday address.
He is a member of the WQA and serves on a number of committees, including the Certification and Education Committee, and the Membership Marketing Committee. He is also a member of the Eastern Water Quality Association's Board of Directors.
"Those attending these two sessions will earn a half credit of continuing education for each," said Heady.
