Medical Documentation Services Ltd., a medical records transcription company, has opened operations in Cape Girardeau.
The firm, which has clients throughout the U.S., is at 760 S. Kingshighway.
"We're not just a typing company," said Debra Watson, president of the company. "We provide solutions to medical documentation problems."
Watson has a management information systems degree, and has 13 years of experience as a medical transcriptionist. For seven of those years she was a programmer-analyst. She is now working toward her health information management degree.
The firm's staff includes Betty O'Connor, director of marketing, who has a master's of business administration degree and has been involved in medical transcription since 1969; Stephanie Powers, who is working toward a nursing degree and has been a transcriptionist for five years; Lori Bragg, who has a bachelor of science degree and has been a transcriptionist for a year; and Lee Hendershott, who is attending Southeast Missouri State University and serves as courier for the firm.
