Mrs. H has endured a series of medical problems over the last few years. She has severe arthritis and hypertension. Just recently she underwent extensive surgery on her knee.
Despite having to deal with so many ailments, Mrs. H still manages to attend church and go out on occasion.
Through Christmas for the Elderly, a project co-sponsored by the Cape Girardeau County Health Department and Southeast Missourian, perhaps Mrs. H will get help buying medicine to combat her medical problems.
She is visited by her son, who lives close to her home. He tries to provide some support, but he must also help his wife, who has multiple sclerosis.
A gift certificate to the Medical Arts Pharmacy would help Mrs. H pay for some of the medicine she needs.
She could also use a flannel night gown, size 40-42 and cotton panties, size 11.
Mrs. H needs insulated T-shirts and long-sleeve thermal underwear, size 40-42.
Like many underprivileged senior citizens, Mrs. H is unable to afford items like perfume or body lotion. Since she has difficulty getting around her home, she could use a small television in her bedroom.
Paper products such as towels, toilet paper and napkins are also items Mrs. H must pass up in order to afford more necessary items such as food and medicine.
Mr. I is having difficulty supporting his family because he is disabled and must undergo kidney dialysis each week. His wife and son are also disabled.
Mr. I could use some nylon socks, size 9 and one-half to 10, and shirts, size 16 and one-half. He has also included cotton slacks, 40 waist and 34 length, on his wish list along with an extra large sweater.
Gift certificates from any grocery store would also be appreciated.
Gifts may be delivered to the Southeast Missourian, 301 Broadway, or the Health Department, 1121 Linden.
Gifts or monetary donations may be mailed to Christmas for the Elderly, P.O. Box 699, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63702-0699.
