Tax bills in at least three counties may arrive a bit later than they have in the past.

The company contracted to assemble the massive annual mailing for Cape Girardeau, Scott and Perry counties had mechanical problems with the equipment used to sort the mail.

Normally, bills for Cape Girardeau taxpayers get to the post office within the first few days of November, according to county Collector Diane Diebold.

This morning, she told Cape Girardeau County commissioners the reason for the delay after Presiding Commissioner Gerald Jones said he had not received his bill but that his mother had paid hers.

Diebold said anyone who hasn't seen a bill yet should expect one no later than Monday.
