Samuel E. McVay has been named administrator of the 150-bed Cape Girardeau Missouri Veterans' Home.
McVay succeeds John B. Angelle Jr., who was appointed administrator of the new St. Louis are Missouri Veterans' Home, scheduled for opening in October.
The new administrator brings 25 years experience in healthcare administration.
He served the past 21 years as director of Student Health Program at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Prior to joining SIU, he was assistant administrator at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ill.
McVay is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and earned his masters and doctorate at SIU. He is an Air Force veteran, serving four years active duty and 16 years in the reserves.
"My primary goal is the development and maintenance of a work atmosphere that allows all of us to deliver our very best service to the residents of this facility," he said.
