U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill is sending staff members to area communities to discuss the transition to digital television as part of her office's "Kitchen Table Talks" series of meetings with constituents. Staff members will be available from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Jackson at the Jackson Public Library, 100 N. Missouri St. On Feb. 17, 2009, all television stations are required to switch from analog broadcasting to digital broadcasting. Viewers who watch over-the-air programming must switch to a digital television or purchase a converter. Government coupons are available to cover $40 of the cost. McCaskill's staff will explain the change and provide help in obtaining the coupons.
