Jackson Mayor Paul Sander and Cape Girardeau Mayor Albert Spradling III have renewed their friendly wager over the outcome of Friday's Jackson-Cape Central football game.
The loser must wear the other team's sweatshirt at their next regular council session.
The two mayors first made the wager before last years' game, which Jackson won. Spradling dutifully appeared in a Jackson sweatshirt at the next meeting of the Cape Girardeau City Council.
Both teams are having good seasons heading into this year's game between the big rivals. Jackson is undefeated and Central has lost only once.
Sander views the wager as a way for the two communities to have fun with the game, but said, "I don't anticipate having to wear the sweatshirt."
