ALTENBURG, Mo. -- The mayor of Altenburg officially resigned last week at city board of alderman meeting, Altenburg city clerk Carol Wunderlich said Tuesday.
Tom Meyer has given the board some notice that he was considering leaving office and made a formal announcement at the meeting, Wunderlich said.
Meyer has served as mayor in Altenburg since 1993, he said, and cited recent health concerns as his main reason for resigning from the position.
"It's a lot of stress," he said.
