Four of the top five teams in the Southeast regional MathCounts contest were from Cape Girardeau.
The three top teams will compete in state competition Saturday at Columbia.
First place in the Southeast regional contest was St. Vincent's eighth-grade team. Second place in the district meet was the St. Mary's team.
Cape Girardeau Central Junior High School took third-place honors. The fourth-place team was from Kelly Junior High School.
L.J. Schultz seventh-grade team finished fifth.
Teams from St. Vincent's, St. Mary's and Central Junior High advance to the state competition.
Members of the St. Vincent's team are Jenny Layton, Jeremy Bratton, Tommy Berkbigler and Carson Heady.
Members of the St. Mary's team are Bryan Schaefer, Jill Ostendorf, Adam Vickery and Sarah Essner.
Members of the Central Junior HIgh are Gabe Hart, Todd Matzat, Andrew Hicks and Alice Chen.
Members of the Schultz team are Trent Redfearn, Elizabeth Kunz, Josh Arnzen and Wade Russell.
