No one was injured on Thursday evening when a masked man robbed the Town House Inn at gunpoint.
At about 10:15 p.m., a young man reportedly entered the main lobby of the motel at 505 N. Kingshighway. He aimed a gun at the clerk and directed her behind the counter, where she pulled all the cash from the drawer.
After placing the money in a bag, he demanded to see the safe, but the woman said that she had no access to it. He forced her to lay on the ground and wait for a certain amount of time before getting up. He ran out the front door and escaped on foot.
The clerk described him as a black man, between 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet tall, about 180 pounds. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a purple bandana over his face.
It is possible that he arrived with four or five other black men in a newer-model white car that drove through the parking lot moments before the robbery, police officers said.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 335-6611 or CrimeStoppers at 332-0500.
