A Marble Hill, Mo., man was sentenced to prison on firearms charges in federal court in Cape Girardeau on Friday, according to a news release from Federal Prosecutor Michael W. Reap's office. John P. Browning, 56, was sentenced to 180 months in prison on one felony count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr.

A Marble Hill, Mo., man was sentenced to prison on firearms charges in federal court in Cape Girardeau on Friday, according to a news release from Federal Prosecutor Michael W. Reap's office. John P. Browning, 56, was sentenced to 180 months in prison on one felony count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. According to the news release, Browning was charged after Bollinger County sheriff's deputies searched his home and found a Remington 12-gauge shotgun and a Walther .22-caliber pistol. Because of a prior felony conviction, Browning is prohibited from possessing firearms.
