MARBLE HILL -- The filing period for candidates for city offices in Marble Hill opens Tuesday.
City officials whose terms expire in April include Mayor Shirley Cooper, City Collector Loveta Long and three members of the Board of Aldermen.
According to City Clerk Pauline Clubb, the terms of aldermen F.X. Peters, Ward 1, Fred Thomas, Ward 2, and Mildred Shell, Ward 2, will expire.
Peters' seat in Ward 1 and Thomas' seat in Ward 2 will be for two-year terms. Shell's seat is for a one-year term. Shell was appointed to fill the seat after David Jackson resigned to become the city's administrative assistant. Cooper has been mayor since 1986.
Candidates may file at City Hall. The filing period ends Feb. 4, Clubb said.
