ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A man is dead after a confrontation with police in St. Louis.
It happened last night on the city's south side. Officers say the man was involved in a drug deal. The suspect is identified by relatives as 23-year-old Johnny Johnson. Names of the officers involved have not been released.
Police say officers were observing the drug deal and pulled over a car with Johnson inside. When confronted, the man allegedly shot at officers, who returned fire and killed him.
Police Chief Joe Mokwa says it's lucky that one of the officers wasn't killed.
