An Ironton, Mo., man was killed Thursday morning in a work-related accident along Highway 177 in Cape Girardeau County.

John Risher, 20, of Ironton, Mo., was killed in the accident, which happened at 10 a.m. Thursday in an area of Highway 177 adjacent to Hickory Hills subdivision near Neely's Landing.

According to information from Cape Girardeau County Deputy Coroner John Clifton, Risher was pinned underneath a spray rig that had overturned.

Risher was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:30 p.m.

Risher was an employee of Townsend Tree Service in Fredricktown, Mo., and was working to spray chemicals to curb brush growth in areas under utility lines.

The area was hilly terrain and the vehicle overturned leaving Risher trapped, Clifton said.
