Investigators said Biester was wearing dark clothing, making it hard for the driver of the truck to see him. Authorities said the truck driver could not move into the other lane to miss Biester because of approaching traffic.

Police said Biester was about 800 feet out from the Illinois bank when he was struck. He was taken to the St. Francis Medical Center. The incident occurred at 3:30 a.m., Saturday.
