MAN HELD FOR DRUG POSSESSION

BENTON, Mo. -- A 40-year-old Sikeston, Mo., man is being held on a $300,000 bond for marijuana possession, the Scott County Sheriff's Department reported.

County and federal investigators had been looking into drug activity at the residence of Christopher J. Hawkins for some time, Sheriff Bill Ferrell said. After obtaining a warrant, officers seized more than 267 grams of marijuana.

Hawkins remains in the Scott County jail. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment Nov. 21.
