JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A former insurance adjuster has been sentenced to two months in jail for stealing more than $1 million from his employer.

Robert Riebold, 60, of Jefferson City also was ordered last week to pay restitution.

The documents say Riebold cashed checks made payable to Shelter and its customers and deposited the money into a personal account.

The Jefferson City News Tribune reported that Circuit Judge Patricia Joyce imposed the sentence under the terms of a plea agreement.

Riebold could have been sentenced to a prison term from five to 15 years.
