A Cape Girardeau man charged with beating a man during a robbery has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Jesse Boyer, 36, originally was charged with armed criminal action and robbery after police said he stole a bag of prescription pills from a man at gunpoint in 2015.
The victim reported Boyer struck him in the head with a gun before picking up the spilled pills and fleeing, according to a probable-cause statement filed in connection with the case.
Boyer later faced amended charges of second-degree assault, a class C felony, as well as a stealing charge from 2012 and a forgery charge from 2014.
The armed criminal action charge was dismissed, and Boyer pleaded guilty to the three remaining charges.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison for assault and seven years for forgery but will serve the terms concurrently.
He also was sentenced to five years in prison for stealing, which will be served concurrently with the other sentences.
