PATTERSON, Mo. (AP) -- A Southeast Missouri man has drowned after swimming at a state park. The Missouri State Water Patrol on Friday identified the victim as 25-year-old Joshua Dement of Patterson. Authorities say Dement and friends were swimming Thursday evening at Sam A. Baker State Park near Patterson when the friends realized he was missing. PATTERSON, Mo. (AP) -- A Southeast Missouri man has drowned after swimming at a state park.

The Missouri State Water Patrol on Friday identified the victim as 25-year-old Joshua Dement of Patterson.

Authorities say Dement and friends were swimming Thursday evening at Sam A. Baker State Park near Patterson when the friends realized he was missing. They found him underwater and tried to revive him, then called for help.

Dement was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
