CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) -- Jurors in St. Louis County will decide whether to recommend the death penalty after convicting 43-year-old Leonard Taylor in the deaths of his girlfriend and her three children.

The jury found Taylor guilty of four counts of first-degree murder in a verdict issued late Thursday. The penalty phase of the hearing began Friday morning.

Angela Rowe and her children, ages 5, 6 and 10, were killed in 2004. All four were shot to death.

Taylor was arrested in Madisonville, Ky., six days after the bodies were discovered. Authorities had been tracking him across the country.

Jurors must decide between the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
