KENNETT, Mo. — A Kennett man was injured and his dog was killed following a fire at his residence on Route EE in Kennett. The Kennett Fire Department responded to a fire at 2408 Route EE, trailer No. 7, at 7:51 a.m. Saturday. The resident of the property, Henery Freeman, was asleep on a bed in the living room when he woke up to the smell of smoke. The Kennett Fire Department responded to a fire at 2408 Route EE, trailer No. 7, at 7:51 a.m. Saturday.

The resident of the property, Henery Freeman, was asleep on a bed in the living room when he woke up to the smell of smoke. He was treated on the scene for first- and second-degree burns to his hands. The home had no smoke detectors.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Tutor said the property owner, Mary Goodrich Lewis of Kennett, has been served a citation for violating the Missouri Building Code.
