Police chased down one of two men in connection to shots that were fired in south Cape Girardeau on Monday afternoon, though they said it does not appear the men were shooting at each other.
Cape Girardeau police received a call at 3:45 p.m. Monday that shots had been fired in the area of Bloomfield and Hanover streets, according to a police statement. While en route, officers were told there were two shooters involved, and descriptions were given of the suspects, the statement said.
Police had yet to release the name of the man who was arrested shortly after 4 p.m. in the 400 block of South Benton Street. No one was known to be injured in the incident that took place in the 900 block of Bloomfield Street near B&H convenience store. Officers continued to search for the second gunman, who led Cape Girardeau police officers down side streets and through backyards.
Officers also questioned several men in the area, one from as far away as Cairo, Ill.
