A man allegedly fired at a shop, striking a truck near an apartment complex, Friday, July 26.
Aaron Rinehart, 23, was allegedly involved with the shooting as “he yelled profanities out the window” of a car at the shopowner, according to a document obtained from the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Friedrich stated in the document that the shopowner said the car allegedly containing Rinehart left the apartment complex and the shopowner later heard “six gunshots” come from the direction of the car.
According to the document, the shopowner said Rinehart was allegedly the ex-boyfriend of a woman living in the apartment complex, who the shopowner was with.
Friedrich stated another man said he witnessed a car with a man he described “as a black male wearing a ski mask on the driver’s side” back passenger seat, allegedly holding a gun out the window and firing.
The deputy stated he found a truck that belonged to the shopowner with the front driver side and passenger side windows “shattered” and stated there appeared to be a bullet hole through it, according to the document.
“I canvased the area and was able to locate four 9mm shell casings,” Friedrich stated in the document. “(The shopowner) stated to repair the window's it would be approximately $300.”
According to the document, the woman claimed she was never in a relationship with Rinehart. Friedrich described the woman as “mostly uncooperative”, as stated in the document.
Rinehart is currently being held on a $100,000 bond. In the probable-cause statement, the deputy stated Rinehart is “a danger to the community or any other person because he shot from a moving vehicle with multiple people in the area and has a history of resisting arrest and is currently on probation,” as stated in the issuance of a warrant.
