A suspect was in custody after a stabbing Wednesday night in Cape Girardeau.
Sgt. Rick Schmidt of the Cape Girardeau Police Department said a call came in at 8:18 p.m. about a stabbing victim at the Maple Crest Manor residential care facility on North Frederick Street.
Police, fire and emergency medical personnel responded. The victim, a 29-year-old man, had been stabbed four times, Schmidt said. The victim was transported by ambulance to a hospital with superficial injuries that were not life-threatening.
Schmidt said both men were residents of the facility and likely knew each other. He said the men had a disagreement, "and during that disagreement the victim was stabbed" with a "pocket knife-type knife."
The suspect, a 23-year-old man, is in custody. Police are applying for second-degree assault and possibly armed criminal action charges.
