Christopher Burgess, 18, of Jackson, accused of throwing items off the Hopper Street overpass onto vehicles traveling Interstate 55, waived his preliminary hearing Thursday and was bound over to Division 1. His next court appearance will be Feb. 22.

Burgess was arrested late Sunday and charged Monday with multiple counts of felony and misdemeanor property damage and misdemeanor assault.

He was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond. Wednesday, Judge Gary Kamp ordered the bond reduced to $50,000 cash or surety or 10 percent with conditions:

* Burgess will live with his parents at 4849 E. Old Cape Road.

* He will not leave the state of Missouri.

* He will submit to any blood, urine or breath test requested by any law enforcement officer located anywhere.

* He will not be in the presence or company of any people possessing or consuming liquor or illegal drugs.

* He will not be in the presence or company of any people on probation or parole or who have pleaded guilty to or been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor.

* His parents will co-sign to guarantee the bond, and in the event that the bond is a cash or 10 percent bond, will agree that the cash may be used to pay any costs, fines or restitution at the conclusion of the case.

* He may not operate a motor vehicle at any time for any reason.

* He will be confined to his home at all times except for going to work and to court, and on those occasions he will leave only 30 minutes before the start of his shift or court appearance and return no later than 30 minutes after the conclusion.

* When going to and from his job or court he must be driven by one of his parents.

* He may not make any telephone calls at any time for any reason unless one of his parents is present.

Burgess was released from jail Wednesday after his bond was posted.
