Larry Gene Hottel, 44, was sentenced to 45 days in the Cape Girardeau County jail on each count by Judge Gary Kamp. Hottel is incarcerated in the jail and is awaiting a bench trial Friday in front of Judge Benjamin Lewis for an unlawful use of a weapon charge stemming from a Thanksgiving incident. Hottel has been in jail for the peace-disturbance case since April 2 and Kamp said time served counts against Hottel's sentence.

On Thanksgiving, Hottel fired a gun in the air in a field near the residence of Kristy Strop, according to a probable-cause statement filed by the Cape Girardeau County sheriff's department. Hottel said in previous hearings he was using a BB gun.
