The Jackson High School Marching Chiefs Majorettes and the Jackson Freshman Marching Band attended the Marching Auxiliraries Camp at Southeast Missouri State University in late July and earned several awards.
The high school and freshman front lines won the All-American Majorette Team Award and also received invitations to perform at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando or the Aloha Bowl in Hawaii.
The girls attended classes during the day that stressed technique and basic movements.
Nightly evaluations were held by classes and individually judged. The routines were critiqued on a camp standard and ribbons and trophies were presented to the students.
The Jackson High School Majorettes were presented the superior trophy for their performance. They received an excellence award for their home routine, various ribbons and a spirit award. Erin Fluegge won the first-place trophy with her solo competition performance in the high school division. Andria Koller won third place and Stephanie Schneider won fourth place.
The Jackson Freshman Majorettes received a superior award for the home routine, various ribbons and the spirit award. In the junior high division, Jennifer Horst earned second place with her solo competition, followed by Julie Litzelfelner with third place.
Janet Ludwig, senior high sponsor, attended the camp with the twirlers. Rhonda Norman is the freshman sponsor.
