United States Agriculture Secretary Edward Madigan will be in Cape Girardeau today, campaigning on behalf of the Bush-Quayle ticket.
Madigan, a former Illinois congressman, is scheduled to speak to the Lions Club at noon at the Holiday Inn Oak Room. At 12:40 Madigan will hold a news conference before heading to Poplar Bluff to tour the Schaller Lumber Co.
Before coming to Cape, at 9:30 the secretary will tour the Gilster-Marylee Processing Plant at McBride. His Southeast Missouri tour will end at 5:15 p.m. with a visit to the Bill Detring Farm near Farmington.
The Detring farm has been designated a "Century Farm" because it has been productive for more than 100 years. While there, he will also visit with a group of area farmers.
