The Motor Vessel Mississippi will make a stop along the Mississippi River riverfront Aug. 17 in Cape Girardeau, according to a news release from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Tours of the vessel will be offered to the public at no cost, and an open house aboard the largest diesel towboat operating on the Mississippi River will be hosted from 9 a.m. to noon, the release said.
The 6,300-horsepower vessel serves as a working towboat 90 percent of the time, and also as a passenger boat, as it houses 22 staterooms, a dining room and a conference room, according to the release.
