Two musical legends will perform at the Show Me Center in late October.
Reba McEntire, one of the hottest female singers in country music, will appear at the Show Me Center Oct. 30 for one performance at 8 p.m. Accompanying her will be John Michael Montgomery and Brother Phelps (formerly of the Kentucky Headhunters).
Lynyrd Skynyrd will bring rock and roll back to the Show Me Center on Halloween Night, Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. Also performing during this night of rock 'n roll will be Bad Company and Brother Cane.
Tickets for both concerts go on sale Saturday at 9 a.m. McEntire concert tickets are priced at $21. Lynyrd Skynyrd tickets are $18.50 in advance or $20.00 day of show.
To her credits, McEntire has 21 albums that have included combinations of country, pop, and even soul music. The entire music industry has applauded her three most recent albums: "For My Broken Heart," "It's Your Call," and her "Greatest Hits Volume Two." Many claim these are her strongest albums yet. During her 15 years in country music, she has received over 40 awards, including Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year.
Lynyrd Skynyrd will reminisce the 1970s with their classics "Sweet Home Alabama," "Free Bird" and "Things Goin' On." Rolling Stone commented: "In matters of unpretentiousness, power, and invention, the best hard rock band in America during the first half of the 1970s may well have been Lynyrd Skynyrd."
Unfortunately, the band was broken up in 1977 due to a plane crash that killed lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. The band reunited in 1987 for a benefit concert with Ronnie's brother, Johnny Van Zant, as lead singer. They have been touring and recording since this comeback.
Bad Company will also perform during this evening of high energy. Since the band's inception in 1973, it has released six albums, all of which have gone double platinum or greater.
Opening will be Brother Cane out of Birmingham, Al. Their self titled debut album is climbing the charts with the single, "Got No Shame."
Tickets for both shows can be purchased at the Show Me Center Box Office or the other outlet locations: Capital Bank main branch locations in Jackson, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, and Perryville, Disc Jockey Records in Cape Girardeau, Paducah, and Carbondale, Schnucks in Cape Girardeau, and the University Center at Southeast Missouri State University.
