Blanchard Elemenary kindergarten teacher Heather Fisher attends to her class as they enjoy their banana splits Wednesday afternoon, January 25, 2012 at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. Around 25 volunteers from Lynwood created a 30-foot long banana split that they made three times over for the students. It took 30 gallons of vanilla ice cream, 90 bananas, 20 cans of whipped cream and 12-15 bottles each of chocolate syrup, strawberry preserves, caramel sauce, sprinkles and cherries. Blanchard students will return to their school on Monday. A Dec. 6 fire damaged their school and Lynwood Baptist Church has served as a temporary placement for the school since the fire.
