Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Missouri will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday at its new 6,500-square-foot building, the Vernon L. Kasten Center, 3178 Blattner Drive in Cape Girardeau.
The current Cape Girardeau facility does not contain space for parenting and other programs, requiring the social service organization to coordinate space in area churches. With the new facility, LFCS will be able to offer these services and others on-site, with more than adequate parking and easy access to the highway and public transportation.
Features of the new facility, which will double LFCS's current space, include an adoption ceremony room, resource library and board room. The building is made possible through significant donations from the Kasten family and Charles and Shirley Drury.
