Lowe's faces class-action suit

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A federal judge has certified a class-action lawsuit against Lowe's Home Centers, the nation's No. 2 home-improvement chain, for employee's seeking unpaid overtime. U.S. District Court Judge Carlos Murguia certified the class-action case Sept. 1.

Alan Crone, a Memphis attorney for the plaintiffs, said as many as 75,000 Lowe's employees could be represented in the case. He said they claim the company unfairly denied them full overtime pay.

"We are satisfied with Judge Murguia's decision and are making plans to carry out the notification process," Crone said.

Lowe's, based in Mooresville, N.C., did not immediately return phone calls for comment.
