"I love being here," she said. "It's nice to be back where I went to school."

Mazzanti, who has lived in Arkansas and Mississippi, said she "loves" the school and community.

Herzog, a Ste. Genevieve native who lives in Cape Girardeau, is new to sixth grade teaching. Her previous experience has been in preschool work.

"It's a very family-oriented school," she said. "It should be very nice working here."
