Ten local nurses have been nominated for the fourth annual Tribute to Missouri Nurses Awards program sponsored by St. Louis University Hospital Auxiliary and St. Louis University School of Nursing.

The program aims to recognize nurses throughout Missouri for excellence within the profession and to promote nursing in a positive light while raising money for nursing scholarships.

Finalists from St. Francis Medical Center are Amy Ward, Christine Byrd, Diana Glaus, Dottie Worley, Jane Kelley, Jeannie Hey, and Vickie Frank; Deb Barrows is a finalist from Southeast Missouri Hospital; Janice Unger is a finalist from The Lutheran Home; and Mary Ann Hoffman is a finalist from Cape Girardeau public schools.

These finalists were chosen from more than 350 nominations.

A selection committee consisting of community members from throughout the state with a strong interest in health care has chosen five award winners and nine finalists. The five award winners will each receive $1,000 and a specially commissioned crystal sculpture. The nine finalists will receive $500 each and a commemorative plaque.

The names of the five award winners will be announced at a dinner on April 24 at the Adam's Mark Hotel in St. Louis. For more information about the dinner, call the Tribute office at 314-577-8966.
