LOCAL NOTES: EMERSON HONORED BY CHAMBER

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce presented U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson with its 1999 "Spirit of Enterprise" Award for her support of pro-business policies and legislation.

"Talk is cheap, but in 1998, Rep. Emerson compiled an excellent pro-business voting record and demonstrated that jobs and economic growth are top priorities," said Thomas J. Donohue, president and chief executive officer of the chamber.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations.
