Day Camp is a five-day camp where the girls learn and enjoy the outdoor experiences during the day. Girls were organized by age group into eight units who explored the outdoor extravaganza full of energy.

Local volunteers plan and run the camp on their own. All girls, grade one through nine, developed skills in such outdoor activities as cooking, nature games, crafts and enjoyed camp stories and singing.

There were 37 Junior Girl Scouts, 51 Brownie Girl Scouts, 5 Cadette Girl Scouts to be prepared as future staff helpers, 11 Cadettes and Senior Girl Scouts who served as staff assistants and 35 adults who worked throughout the week. Pat Smith and Jan Rigdon were the volunteer directors who made the 1993 Day Camp a big success.

The 1993 Day Camp theme was "Back to Basics," and the mascot was the Hummingbird, which was proudly worn on each of the T-shirts the girls received for attending camp. Teamwork, group fun and togetherness were just a few of the goals these Girl Scouts achieved from Day Camp this summer.

All girls, grades K-12, are eligible to join Girl Scouting. For more information, call the Otahki Girl Scout Council at 334-7741.
