Lisa Barlow, and our coverage

Some of you may have read where Lisa Barlow, the suspect in the alleged shooting death of Michael Strong, was employed with the Southeast Missourian. The newspaper is not releasing any work-related information to the public. The Southeast Missourian has worked with police in providing requested information to law enforcement in accordance with the law. It's been a difficult situation from an ethical standpoint covering this story, knowing that a Missourian employee was a person of interest. We have been relying on information provided by investigators and family members of the victim. The Missourian is not releasing information regarding the work that Barlow performed. However, in the interest of transparency, we would like you to know that she is not well-acquainted with anyone who has been covering this story. We tried several times reaching her by telephone in the days before the arrest. We also tried to contact her at the home where she was staying, but no one answered the door, even though we have reason to believe someone was in the house at the time.
